It’s easy to forget that there is a flipside as we are travelling to see the world’s most beautiful sites.
That this beauty may have little or no use to those who are closest to it as they are struggling from day to day. We may turn them into onlookers as we thoughtlessly display our wealth, as we revel in an exchange rate beneficial beyond our wildest expectations. We might degrade them to the role of extras in our holiday movies and snapshots or inflict on them the ultimate defeat of the human spirit, which is prostitution.
