Could This Little Whistle End Our World’s Largest War?
Falling Whistles began with a single story of a single day. A small window into our world’s deadliest war – the war in Congo. That day we learned of boys, too small to carry a gun, being sent to the frontlines of war armed with only a whistle. Making their weapon our voice, a symbol was born. Together, we partner with local leaders to rehabilitate and advocate for those affected by the war. This November the Democratic Republic of Congo will hold its third election in the country’s history. Advocates, experts, journalists, our partners, they all told us “for peace in Congo, you must have a process for reform.” Free and Fair elections toward a government that will protect the very same people our partners protect. If you protect the process, people learn their voice is a more potent force for change than their fists. The Falling Whistles campaign launched with a simple response – make their weapon your voice and be a whistleblower for peace.
