The concept initially was mine to make a special issue of i-D which would be a celebration of family in its broadest sense.
The challenge to come up with a title and a message that was neither preachy nor sentimental and allowed everyone to interpret the brief in as free a way as they wanted was taken up by the editorial team, hence ‘Family Future Positive’. To everyone we asked the same question: what does family mean to you? So to all of you who have taken up the challenge and made it as personal or brilliantly idiosyncratic as you’ve wanted, my biggest thanks. It’s been a complete pleasure to see the results coming in, and for any who have missed our as-usual-yesterday deadline, this project is still a work in progress. We are planning exhibitions around this theme in Paris, London, Milan and new York to date, so please keep the images and words coming in – the more the magical!
