The only hair you’re allowed to wear whilst playing video games or sitting on a throne between two tigers, stylist Liam Curran creates Lana Del Rey locks on the strikingly similar Holly!
Featured in The Winter Warm Up Issue, Lana Del Rey is the chart-topping American songstress who burst onto the airwaves in 2011. But we’re here to talk about her hair. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so grab some tongs (not literally, that’s dangerous), and get twirling! Here’s how…
You will get the best result from a tong set when the hair has been freshly washed, dried and brushed.
Step 1: Take a neat section of hair where you want your parting to be using a pin tail comb. You will need to start at the back of the head taking sections around 2 inches in depth. Start from the nape and work your way up to the crown.
Step 2: Using a heat protecter, spray each section before the tong touches the hair. Each individual section you take before tonging should be around 2 inches in width.
Step 3: Wrap the hair around the tong and heat for about 5 seconds depending on the heat of your tong (the hotter the better). Slide out the tong from the section and place a clip into the centre to secure a perfect rounded shape. Repeat this process all the way to the crown.
Step 4: Once you have tonged the back, start on the sides. Use the same process on each side of the head but leave about 1.5 inches of hair either side of the parting. You will be left with a section of hair on the top of the head which is your parting. Brush the hair and take the same sized sections through the top working towards the front.
Step 5: Once all the hair has been tonged, allow it to set by cooling down. You can leave it in for as long as you want but a minimum of around 20 minutes. If your hair is fine or very long with not many layers it’s best to leave the set in longer as it will drop quicker. Working form the back of the head start to take out all your clips from the hair.
Step 6: Gently brush through to create that soft and fully volumised Lana Del Rey hair!
