Since meeting as teenagers in a Berkeley dorm in the early 90s, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have become close pals, started cool label Opening Ceremony, and are now reinventing Kenzo with a sublime SS12 collection. In The Royalty Issue, i-D asked them how it all happened, and shot the collection on Japanese actress turned Manhattan cool kid Rinko Kikuchi.
