Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin launched their international careers with the publication of ten pages in The Face in 1994 with a shoot that typified their hyper-realistic style. These series were designed to celebrate and subvert fashion within the context of a magazine. Now, 25 years later, with campaigns for fashion houses such as Chanel, Chloé, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent, and regular publications in W, Vogue, Paris Vogue and The New York Times, Inez and Vinoodh are amongst the most important photographers in the world today, having successfully crossed the line drawn between fashion and art, maintaining careers in both fields. The team has lived and worked in New York since 1995, snapping Björk, Stefano Pilati with Naomi Campbell and Daria Werbowy for the cover of i-D. Recently Inez and Vinoodh collaborated with the French graphic design team M/M (Paris) to present mixed-media pieces, videos and photographs entitled Pretty Much Everything: Photographs 1985-2010. Exhibited in Amsterdam’s Foam_Fotografiemuseum, the work will also be included in their eponymous Taschen book in 2011.
