Tim Walker is a world-renowned British photographer. Born in 1970, Walker’s fascination with photography began at Condé Nast, where he undertook a years work experience and helped set up the Cecil Beaton archive. Tim won first prize in the Independent on Sunday and Olympus Fashion Photography Awards in 1994 and enrolled on a photography degree at Exeter College of Art not long after. On graduating, Walker assisted Richard Avedon before branching out on his own, initially concentrating on documentary and portrait photography for UK newspapers before shooting editorial for British Vogue, W and Harper’s Bazaar. Today Walker contributes to a number of high-profile international titles and regularly collaborates with stylist Jacob K and set designer Shona Heath. He has also worked with numerous advertising clients. Walker’s first contribution to i-D was a photograph of Lily Cole, styled by Edward Enninful for the cover of The Scratch and Sniff Issue in May 2006. While his favourite i-D cover is the one he created with artist Linder Sterling and Richard Nicoll for the Fall 2009 issue.
