Steven Klein

Steven Klein studied Fine Art at the Rhode Island School of Design before turning his attention to photography in the early 90s. He has since established himself as one of the most prolific photographers working today. Based in New York, Klein produces epic fashion stories for publications worldwide, including i-D, W, American Vogue and Vogue Italia. Klein shot his first cover for i-D, starring model Veronica Webb, in January 1994. He has since shot seven covers for the magazine, his favourite being the August 1994 USA Issue capturing Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss skipping out of a nightclub in the Meatpacking District of New York. As well as his prolific career in photography, Klein has published books, created video installations and photographed high-profile advertising campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen and Nike. His photographic work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Deitch Gallery in New York and Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills.
