Sasha Pivovarova was born in 1985 in Moscow, Russia, and her first i-D cover was ‘The Stepping Stone Issue’ (July 2008). She recently posed for the cover of ‘The Home is Where the Heart is Issue’ (Spring 2010) where she was dressed head to toe in Alexander McQueen as part of a tribute spread to the designer. Sasha’s modelling career started virtually overnight when a photographer friend recommended her to IMG, who signed her immediately. Two weeks later she was opening the show for Prada in Milan, who kept her exclusively for seven seasons. Sasha is the face of Giorgio Armani Beauty and has featured in campaigns for Longchamp, Pringle and Tiffany and Co. A source of inspiration for many, Sasha has played muse to Miuccia Prada and John Galliano and is a particular favourite of photographer Tim Walker. Sasha is a keen artist and swears by Chinese tea, vegetarianism and alcohol abstinence.
