Paolo Roversi was born in Italy in 1947. His love for photography blossomed on a family holiday to Spain, which resulted in the young Roversi setting up a darkroom in a vacant cellar together with the local postman, also a keen amateur snapper. In 1970, Roversi started work with Associated Press; his first assignment was to document Ezra Pound’s funeral in Venice. Roversi moved to Paris in 1973, where he fell in love with fashion photography. His work has since appeared in i-D, Harper’s Bazaar, British and Italian Vogue, Interview and many, many more publications. Roversi has also collaborated with commercial clients including Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Christian Dior and Givenchy. Roversi has shot ten covers for i-D starring Devon Aoki, Isabelle Huppert, Clemence Poesy, Kirsten Owen, Lisa Ratcliffe, Naomi Campbell, Georgia Jagger, Natalia Vodianova, Vanessa Paradis and most recently Stella Tennant for The Hedonist Issue, Summer 2011.
