Naomi Campbell is a model living in New York and St. Tropez, who broke new ground during the 80s and 90s, typifying the physique, attitude and business acumen that engendered the supermodel movement. Since being discovered at the age of 15 on the streets of London’s Covent Garden, Naomi Campbell has gone on to become one of Britain’s most successful models, fronting campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Versace, Jazz, Francois Nars, Dolce & Gabbana and Roc-A-Wear. She has been snapped by leading photographers Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Ellen Von Unwerth, Mario Testino and Peter Lindbergh, and was the first black model to feature on the cover of Time magazine and French Vogue. i-D began its love affair with Naomi in 86 when she appeared on the cover of ‘The Dramatic Issue’ and has since appeared on 10 covers to date. Aside from her busy modelling career, Naomi has also appeared in films by Michelangelo Antonioni, Steve DiMarco and Spike Lee, co-authored the novel Swan and launched her own cosmetics range and lifestyle, branding and events company, NC.Connect. She continues to use her influence to raise awareness for various charity campaigns including Breast Cancer Awareness and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, and in February 2010 Naomi organised the Fashion for Relief Haiti show.
