Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott met in 1994 and began a partnership, which would be responsible for creating some of the most graceful, immaculate images in fashion. They have shot three covers for i-D, the first of Bjork for The Original Issue in September 2000 and the second of Kate Moss, dressed as a cat, for The Individual Issue in April 2003. These two women epitomize their style of taking portraits of powerful and sophisticated women. Their most recent cover was a Givenchy special and featured model Mariacarla Boscono seductively caressing the face of Givenchy head designer Riccardo Tisci. Before meeting, Alas studied classical piano and cello in his native Istanbul and Welsh-born Piggott was living in England, where they joined forces. The duo has contributed to numerous international publications, including American Vogue, Vogue Italia, W, Pop, Numéro and Arena Homme Plus. Commercial clients include Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Miu Miu and Kenzo.
