Pennsylvania-born Kristen McMenamy found fame as a model with her quirky, androgynous looks. She starred in campaigns for Jil Sander and Gerard Darel in 1985, but it wasn’t until the early 90s that her career really took off. In 1991 Kristen appeared on the cover of Italian Vogue, shot by Steven Meisel, and quickly became one of his favourite models to work with; she also developed a lasting professional relationship with Peter Lindbergh and appeared in his book 10 Women. She has appeared on the cover of i-D three times, first shot by Juergen Teller for ‘The Alternative Issue’ (March 1996), and then again in June 1993 for ‘The Beauty Issue’. For summer 2011, Kristen featured on the cover of The Hedonist Issue, a picture that was taken whilst she attended i-D’s 30th Birthday party, and for A/W 11, the model will front Jean Paul Gaultier’s advertising campaign. Kristen lives with her husband and children in London.
