Justin Borbely

Justin Borbely was born to a Pakistani mother and Hungarian father and raised in a suburb outside of Toronto, Canada. He studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, moving to London in 2009 to further his photography career. He lives in Dalston and finds hip-hop music the fitting score to his day – particularly Aaliyah. His extensive youtube knowledge is balanced by a serious BBC nature show addiction. Other viewing pleasures include all things horror, The Dark Crystal, and Show Girls. He puts hot sauce on everything, including brown rice and vegetables. Justin shoots portraits and fashion stories. He enjoys cute animals, and would like to eventually shoot an eight page spread of Boo the dog.
Justin began shooting for i-D in 2011. He came to the i-D family through his ability to shoot a good headphone story. In addition to photography, he is an experienced lighting technician and photo retoucher.
