The only teenage style obsessive in his West Yorkshire village, i-D’s Fashion Features Editor James Anderson suffered one-hour bus journeys to an obscure boutique in Leeds to hunt down issues of the magazine in the early 80s-and then painted portraits of the beautiful young punks featured inside for his school Art exam. By the time the late 90s rolled around, James – who now lives in London, and has a gorgeous whippet called Kenny – was writing features for i-D and a host of other fashion and music magazines. Today, he combines working for a wide portfolio of influential fashion titles with a University lecturing role, inspiring the writers of tomorrow.
