Born in Saudi Arabia in 1984, Hanna Kelifa is originally from the bordering state of Eritrea. Raised in London, Hanna studied BA Design Studies at the London Metropolitan University and spent her time wishfully submitting photography and fashion images for graphic design assignments. Deciding to pursue her passion, she enrolled at LCC to study photography, whilst frequently pestering her favourite stylists for work experience. i-D’s Edward Enninful extended an arm and swept Hanna off to LA to assist him on a Steven Meisel shoot for Vogue Italia. Under the bright lights, Hanna’s diploma seemed a distant memory, but she laboured on and finished the job before assisting Edward full time and going on to become Womenswear Editor at i-D until Summer 2011. Inspired by ‘Youth culture, people and the little things in life’, Hanna has a dry sense of humour and an inexplicable aversion to jam. Among her favourite i-D issues are the The Streaker Issue, The Inspiration Issue and The Family Issue.
