Eugene Souleiman is one of the most influential hair stylists of today. He began his career in 1982 becoming an apprentice hairdresser before working closely with Trevor Sorbie for nearly ten years. He currently serves as Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals. In 1993 he collaborated with Dinos and Jake Chapman on an art exhibition called ‘The Art of Chess’ where he individually styled the hair of each chess figure. He has worked for the most influential fashion and style magazines all over the world and snipped, coiffed and backcombed hair for shows including Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Haider Ackermann and Yohji Yamamoto. Eugene was part of Edward Enninful’s team when he first started out doing test shoots, working with photographer Craig McDean and make-up artist Pat McGrath. Now working in partnership with Pat, Eugene is a Contributing Beauty Editor for i-D and has primped and preened the tresses of cover girls including Alek Wek, Lily Cole, Naomi Campbell, Stella Tennant and Amber Valetta.
