Originally hailing from Huddersfield, snapper fantastic Darren Hall now splits his time between London and New York. Since i-D Online romped onto the web-waves nearly 12 months ago Darren has snapped tens of portraits for our section devoted to Straight-Up photography, a style of street snapping synonymous with i-D throughout its thirty-year history. A gentle giant, complete with thick beard, toothy grin and a charming Yorkshire chuckle, Darren’s ability to catch the true meaning of ‘the straight-up’ in all his photos has us clapping, from Jeanette the mega-glam New York retiree to Simon, the bus-driver from Streatham, he gets the shot, every time.
