Caroline is i-D’s Fashion Editor. Born and raised in West London, Caroline’s formative years featured a number of unlucky events; notably, cracking her head open in an unfortunate toilet incident; contracting dysentry in Nepal and getting really lost in the Amazon. In 2004, Caroline’s luck changed when a chance meeting with Edward Enninful’s gang led to her becoming Edward’s first assistant for a number of years, working on shoots with Steven Miesel, Bruce Weber, Inez and Vinoodh, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Klein and Craig McDean for Vogue Italia, US Vogue and i-D. In 2006, Caroline moved to New York to work at American Vogue and despite her best efforts failed to get into the film The September Issue. Returning to London in 2009 Caroline’s i-D career began and she has since worked with photographers Viviane Sassen, Boo George, Sebastian Kim, Benjamin Alexander Huseby and built a client list including Levi’s, Aquascutum, Topshop, Dockers and Tod’s. Caroline cites her hobbies as ‘Tea and all tea based activities, riding her bicycle, old man pubs and magic tricks’; and her favourite i-D period as 1990-1995, with a particular mention of ‘the one with the Nigel Shafran “Precinct People”.
