As the ‘RCA Secret’ celebrates its 20th year as one of London’s most popular art sales, we ask a few of our favourite RCA alumni fashion designers about their favourite artworks.
For nine days postcards of fresh artwork from some of the world’s leading international artists and designers are exhibited at the RCA, before the eclectic collection goes on sale in a one-day fine art extravaganza. With all the money raised going back into the college’s fund, the intention is clear: buy a piece of work by a famous artist today and help fund the famous artists of tomorrow. The ‘secret’ comes from the fact that the postcard works are signed on the back, so it’s only after purchase that you find out whether you’ve bought an original Tracey Emin or a new work by an as-yet unknown artist or student.
To mark the occasion, we asked a few of our favourite RCA alumni fashion designers what their all-time favourite artworks are, and why.
The RCA Secret exhibition is now open and the sale will take place on Saturday 23rd March, admission free.
