Louis Vuitton is always a highlight of Paris fashion week, not least for the amazing sets. In the past we’ve had boudoirs, train stations and lift shafts, but this season Marc Jacobs turned his focus to the hotel. Hotel doors were arranged in a semi-circle around the show space from which the girls appeared one by one, took a quick turn of the catwalk before disappearing back into the door they came from. Seedy yet sexy, it highlighted the wonderful anonymity of hotels. Who were these girls? What were they doing? And more importantly who were they with? As each door opened, you caught a glimpse of an old black and white movie. There was a girl in a state of undress, a curtain blowing in the breeze and a man looking out of the window. The clothes had a bedroom languor about them. Sheer nightgowns were teamed with oversized fur coats, crystal entrusted dresses came with fox fur trim, while elegant overcoats, worn over flimsy baby doll dresses, sparkled with crystals. There were pyjama print satin shirts and jackets, fluffy cashmeres, ostrich feathers and silk nightgowns accentuated with racy lace trims. As with any Louis Vuitton show, the model line up out shone all others, with a seductive and very scantily clad Kate Moss closing the show.
