i-Society: i-D MIX 14/03/12

i-D online x Blasé Boys Club + Duke Dumont = Shoreditch Butchery Overload.

Allow us to explain. i-D online teamed up with the hottest rising label in contemporary dance, Blasé Boys Club, to co-host our monthly club night at The Shoreditch Butchery above XOYO. From 8pm to 3am a spot on the dance floor was sought after and even during a 2 minute power cut, determination paid off as the hyping crowd held strong. Dusting the speakers down and kicking off the night, Sebastian Burford played an eclectic mix of dance classics alongside new artists breaking onto the house scene. Following Seb was one of the nicest men to grace a DJ booth, MNEK, getting the dance floor moving and raising the roof with tracks like Montell Jordan – ‘This Is How We Do It’ and Fatman Scoop – ‘Be Faithful’. The climax of the evening came in the heavily anticipated live performance of Duke Dumont’s new single ‘Need U (100%)’, with live vocals provided by A*M*E – check out the acapella exclusive for i-D online here. Erupting the room, A*M*E took to table-hopping dance moves before mixes of late 80′s hits blasted out, including Black Box – ‘Ride On Time’, combined with Duke’s own original party classics. Finishing off the night the Blasé Boys Club brought tunes from their own friends and team including Duke’s lawyer, playing a set taking everyone into the early hours of the morning.

Tune into our March Mixtape right here, right now and stay glued to i-D on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest on our #iDMIX series.
