Versace went punk this season – or ‘vunk’ as Donatella called it – to a stellar front row that included Janet Jackson, Lana del Ray, Christopher Kane and her new prodigy J.W. Anderson. The clothes screamed sex, with a capital ‘S’. Studs, buckles and chains worked their way around black PVC trousers, kilts, bondage jackets and bodycon dresses that came artfully slashed – punk style – across the chest. Yellow fur jackets with black leopard spots added a flash of fun. As did the accessories, which were unapologetically in yer face. Chokers laden with spikes and chains didn’t just have bite, they looked like they could take someone’s eye out. While white cowboy boots covered in silver studs and black boots laden in chains added the sex appeal Donatella is famed for. With the Punk Chaos to Couture exhibition opening at The Met in New York this September, there’s guaranteed to be a lot more where this came from. Viva La Vunk.
