Thomas Tait’s SS13 turtle power collection was unbelievably good. Bold, clean and genuinely career-defining, he gave editors what they never knew they wanted, and left them gagging for it. With his own very big shoes to fill come show time tonight, Tait’s one of the hottest tickets in London Fashion. Taking stock, i-D’s George Harvey and Raphael Hirsch photographed the spring/summer collection while we quizzed TT about sci-fi fanaticism, and the shape of things to come.
What’s your favourite sc-fi film? Not sure… Suspiria is not really sc-fi but I really love that film. Off the top of my head for Sc-Fi; the ones I really love these days would be Brazil, Runaway, Bladerunner… That kind of stuff.
Who’s your favourite teenage mutant ninja turtle? Michelangelo (And I always loved April).
How do you do research? Live it learn it.
Canadians are very patriotic, tell us an interesting fact about your homeland… We don’t actually say “aboot”.
What’s the mood of your AW13 collection? Electricity, the word FLASH and thomastits.
