Last season saw numerous designers blurring the seasonal lines between spring/summer and autumn/winter. Our climate is changing and people are travelling more and more so designers are taking note and adapting their collections. Thakoon continued this trend by intertwining summery florals and bare skin with winter fur and leather. He created a dandelion in the wind print in strong pinks and blues that almost resembled fireworks jumping out of an evening sky, while printed and laser cut fire flies added to ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ vibes. Thakoon used lace panels to vamp up a beautifully ladylike collection, using the lace to expose a strategic yet considerable amount of flesh to begin with, then softening into a daring flash, on to pastel feminine tones as the collection continued. Heavy fur stoles were belted across the body in an almost barbaric sense, offering a perfect contrast to the pretty tea dresses and tailored coats delicately worn underneath. Thakoon does feminine first, then allows it to be seduced by the dark side. He does it well.
