Marc Jacobs gallantly hosted his Marc by Marc Jacobs show three days early – to make up for mainline sample delays – with a 50s inspired collection celebrating the iconic blonde pinup with a twist. The focus was on the waist and the hips, naturally. Sharp tailored overcoats in navy, camel and grey were teamed with pin-striped blouses and pencil skirts. Waist-cinching belts enhanced red knitwear, while fuzzy blonde poodle wigs and electric red lips added a somewhat electrifying – yet sexy – Bridget Bardot air. Houndstooth prints – already one of autumn/winter 13′s biggest trends - were splashed across fur trimmed overcoats and jackets. While pinstripes, pyjama silk suits and vanity cases doubling up as clutch bags added a wanton yet covetable air. But the true star of the show were the prints. Modelled by i-D faves Daphne Groeneveld and Lindsey Wixson, these 70s inspired swirls were as loud, proud and unapologetically Marc as they come.
