Antonio Marras opened the gates to his garden of fashion delights this morning with his diffusion line I’m Isola Marras. Bringing outside inside, the way he likes to do, the concept store where the presentation took place was filled with chrysanthemums in Marras’ favourite colour, bordeaux, causing the most Romantic Instagrams we’ve managed all week. With wine stained petals filling the air, it made sense when Marras said he was inspired by a poem about autumn, by the Italian poet Ungaretti: “Here we are, like leaves on trees, in Autumn”. All wearing bowler hats with the flower tucked in, Marras’s models looked like gentlemen from a Magritte painting, wearing suits and ties and thinking philosophically. Blurry, bordeaux coloured prints covered some suits like ink dispersing in water, but elsewhere it was much more vivid with pinstripe trousers and layered leather jackets over blazers. Finishing the look with leather gloves and rubber boots for garden use, the collection kept sight of its theme at all times, and offered comfort in staples, romantically.
