As the notorious Nemo continued to flex his muscles outside and the New York fashion crowd drip dried inside, Belstaff showcased a waterproof masterclass and offered a friendly reminder to those most windswept and damp, that sensible does not necessarily equate with dull. This was functional fashion at its finest. Exploring the label’s rich heritage, Creative Director Martin Cooper offered plenty to excite while continuing down the chosen path of casual luxury.
Having previously refrained from using the label’s most iconic of fabrics, this season saw the welcome return to, and celebration of, waxed cotton. The first few looks were a trailblazing tribute to the Trialmaster, as a new lease of life was given to its famous sartorial offspring. Paired with sheer shirting, mini leather kilts, tall boots and cosy knitwear that all packed a punch of luxe detailing, this was outerwear to long for. Despite returning to Belstaff’s roots, Cooper and co managed to hop back on to their trusty motorcycle and show the way to an enticing future.
