Alberta Ferretti put the frock back on the map. Her 5 o’clock show in Milan felt like cocktail hour at Buckingham Palace in a sartorial celebration of regal ready to wear. Opening with a staccato piano piece, the first looks were [Queen] Victorian with a pure black and white palette and beautifully layered and ruffled lace skirts fit with white dolly lace embroidered tops. Bolder were 70s inspired art deco dresses to the floor, something one might wear when one is attending a party. Bolder still were a line of crushed velvet and Balmoral tartan skirts with fitted jackets that one might wear when one is attending a public event. A string of skirts and jackets with bustles paraded next in royal blue then changing guard red then Queen Mother purple. Hair was up-do queeny, earrings were Anne Boleyn cross-shaped and absolutely everything was embellished with crown jewels. It was a right royal affair, particularly patriotic for the UK style press in block C.
