For autumn/winter 13, Jil Sander continued on her quest to create the perfect wardrobe for the modern woman. Favouring a muted colour palette of charcoal, navy blue and black she kept her silhouette streamlined and her details minimal. Jacket sleeves were cropped just below the elbow, buttons concealed behind sharp fabric panels and pockets worn oversized on the garment’s exterior. Gold leaf panels added a luxe edge to demure black overcoats and dresses. While an orange round-shouldered jacket introduced an unexpected flash of colour, as did a royal blue skirt with fishtail hem. Elsewhere Houndstooth check brought a British sensibility to knitwear, short-sleeved woolen coats and dresses. While black boots with chunky brown rubber soles added an almost Puritan air. Favourite pieces included a black leather biker jacket – done the Jil Sander way – stripped back to its pure elegant form to create the streamlined modernity Jil Sander is famous for.
