Edie Campbell is the LA girl up to no good in part deux of the Spring Summer 13 campaign from Saint Laurent. Styled and photographed by Hedi Slimane, the 22-year-old model and equestrian from Notting Hill wears the collection to perfection – her (then) long locks tumbling over key pieces for SS13 – a sultry black lace and cape ensemble, elegant pussy-bow blouse, a tan tassel leather jacket, floppy rimmed hat, luxurious black and white fringe coat and of course Slimane’s take on the definitive Le Smoking tuxedo suit. With Californian kid Beck fronting the menswear and Campbell looking like she’s just enjoyed a night hanging with The Doors at Chateau Marmont, the campaign is another step in the exciting new era of Saint Laurent.
i-D asked Edie a few things about things, mostly horses.
What’s the best thing about your job? Working with the coolest and most fun people everrrr.
What’s your favourite city in the world and why? LONDON!!! People keep asking me when I’m gonna move to New York. I mean, come on, why downgrade? I like the architecture of London, I like the relationship of the pavement to the road. I like the Thames and the canals and the flows of people. All of it really.
What was your first horse’s name and what did he/she look like? My first horse was an angry Welsh pony called Polly. She always insisted on running away with me. I was 6 and adored her though.
What else do you like to do in your spare time? I just like my horses! And my oldest friends. I’ve hardly made any new friends since I was 11 which suits me perfectly.
