Walter van Beirendonck. Paris, 16/01/13

There was something very Taboo about the latest Walter van Beirendonck offering, and by Taboo I mean Leigh Bowery, from the brilliant tinsel accessorised jackets to the red glittery lips attached to some of the model’s perfect faces. Leigh did it with safety pins through his cheeks, and of course this was not as drastic but there were certainly some looks in this strong and fun collection that would have earned entry into the magical Bowery 80s super club. Models in platform shoes with a heel that would make any man stand tall paraded down the catwalk in a variation of trouser types. There was a quilted trouser, a leather trouser, a wool, and even a flare. Jumpers were executed the Beirendonck way with clashing shapes and colour, but still looking completely at home. The jackets came in all different shapes and sizes from floor length to tailored, complemented by a simple roll neck and loads of cyberdog attitude. This was a collection that you could happily go out raving the night away in and still look in place on Christmas day cutting the turkey. What more could you ask for? We love you Walter x
