Inspired by the mighty monument dedicated to the Soviet pilot and cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin that proudly peers over the Russian capital and the drama found in Italian Baroque sculpture, Ports 1961′s autumn/winter 2013 presentation saw the creation and erection of twenty super human statues sculpted in power suits, illuminated by projections of great masculine figures. Instead of stone and metal, Ian Hylton and his design team chose to carve, engineer and model a wardrobe that masterfully matched geometric construction with precise tailoring in a season perfect mix of cashmere, wool, cotton, nylon and gabardine. Modern classics.
