Hirohiko Araki makes a manga with Gucci

Flower Power!

As 2013 dawns, Gucci windows all around the world will showcase Creative Director Frida Giannini’s flowery 2013 cruise collection in a beautifully illustrated story by Japanese manga artist Hirohiko Araki. Working closely with Giannini – who promises their window displays “will stop people in their tracks in cities around the world as they immerse themselves in the fabulous fantasy world he has created” – Araki dreamt up the tale Jolyne, Fly High with Gucci, starring Jolyne Cujoh, a character with a constantly changing appearance and a star of his renowned series Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. His pictures show Jolyne inheriting a mysterious treasure from her mother’s Gucci collection, setting off a fashion phantasmagorical journey through a world of neon-tinted Italian renaissance architecture and unicorns printed in Flora patterns. To really see how this strange story unfolds, visit a Gucci boutique and admire the cruise collection displays, watch the accompanying videos, and read the complete manga on the pages of Gucci’s Facebook or Japan’s Spur magazine.
