Rummaging through this fair Isles’ rich history of cultural artefacts, Realm & Empire re-imagines the past to create a modern wardrobe of graphic laden menswear future favourites. From museums to memorabilia, long forgotten documents to landscapes hazily remembered, no possible source is left unexplored in this label’s search for the charismatic characters that shaped British history and the way of life today.
Building on Realm & Empire’s own inspirations, this shoot from George Harvey and i-D Fashion Editor Elgar Johnson recalls childhood memories of Action Man escaping the clutches of an evil captor. “Action Man was one of my childhood heroes and I wanted to play with the darker side of war. As Realm and Empire draw inspirations from power and war, I felt it was fitting to show a captured soldier that battled his way to freedom as so many of our heroes have in the past and present.” Elgar explains.
