Shopbazaar pop up store
Harpers Bazaar launch Shop Bazaar as a pop up store in the Design District with virtual interactive buying.
JR and Jose Parla’s Wrinkles of the City (Havana Cuba)
A moving body of work encompassing a book and a film by JR and Jose Parla. The film, which was screened for the first time at The Standard Hotel during Art Basel, followed Jose and JR going to Cuba to take photos of elderly people and then putting up murals of them all over the city. A pop-up cafe Cafecita that was open 24 hours a day serving Cuban food for the whole week was open at the hotel too.
Design District Street Art
A lot of the cool art is on display everywhere you look, and people are painting while you watch, especially in the Design District – there are murals and installations everywhere.
Serene art at Pulse, Nada and Art Basel
To contrast the mayhem of the week my favourite pieces were the serene works on display from images by Yu Yamauchi on the top of Mount Fuji on show at Nada to the lifelike 3D clouds by Leandro Erlich at Art Basel.
Hermes x Sugimoto exhibition
On the busiest street in the design district, that now sees stores from the likes of Celine, Martin Margiela, Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin, Hermes cleared out their store of all product to put a beautiful display of a Sugimoto x Hermes scarf exhibition for the week. Beautiful and perfect for the occassion.
PRISM x The Standard Art Basel survival kit 2012
We decided to make a kit of everything you need for the week, selling only at The Standard store – a limited edition PRISM bikini and sunglasses, came with a free special edition beach bag stuffed with essential goodies to keep you going – beauty balm, SPF, hair gloss and not forgetting Emergen-C.
