Hot pink oversized crinoline dresses made from neon tulle and delicately crocheted, transparent ball gowns sashayed down the Central Saint Martins runway during Graduate Fashion Week, robbing i-D of our breath, momentarily. The girl behind the fairytale collection was 23-year-old Molly Goddard, a striking redhead who is marvellously gifted at creating nostalgic outfits which effortlessly evoke a sense of wonder and charm. Interning for John Galliano and Meadham Kirchhoff whilst studying, mentored by Willie Walters and accepted onto her knitwear course by Professor Louise Wilson, Molly describes her design aesthetic as ‘large and in charge’. Pinpointing her fiercest look of all time as one which she wore out at the tender age of 10 – grey combat trousers, a gold sequin boob tube, neoprene Nike sandals and her hair in two buns – this West London living girl’s idea of good taste is all about unadulterated individuality. i-D online took a stroll about Molly’s hood whilst her sister, Alice, modelled select looks from the exquisite debut graduate collection.
