Founded in Japan by NIGO® in 1993, A Bathing Ape® quickly established a dedicated following, dominating their native continent before spreading to foreign shores. A few weeks back we shined the spotlight on the beautiful BAPE® bunch as they prepared to celebrate the 10th birthday of their London store by releasing a limited run of Very Ape product. Very Ape was born unto the world of fine garms in 1997, conceived as a capsule collection of ‘Made in UK’ pieces, it was an instant hit, scooping up keen fans across the globe. With the line out of production for some time, we here at i-D Towers issued a casting call for all Very Ape collectors to pitch up to the decade old, James Street store and get shot in their getup by lens’d lothario, Dexter Navy. BAPESTA®’s are known for being fanatical folk, so we asked them to dig through their archives and they came up with the goods. Presented in full technicolour, pizza boxed glory, here’s what happened when i-D monkey’d around at the Very Ape zoo.
