Candid Interiors

When one i-D family member gives us reason to raise a glass or write a tweet we get rather excited. When two do, we pop corks, roll out red rugs and shout about if from the rooftops. The brainchild of a pair of regular i-D contributors, ‘Candid Interiors’ is an arresting yet light-hearted exhibition featuring work by photographer Rebecca Thomas and filmmaker Makda Iyasu.

A combination of stills and moving image, ‘Candid Interiors‘ offers an unadulterated celebration of femininity, where singed bras are cast aside and soapsuds reign supreme! Engrained in East London’s creative community, Rebecca and Makda are surrounded by many spotlight-worthy women who rarely shout about their successes. Photographed in the intimacy of their bedrooms and filmed amongst bubble bath, each starlet of the show gives candid insight into their life and work. From fun and frivolity with i-D Music Editor, Princess Julia, bath side blooms with Sibling knitwear supremo Cozette McCreery and water sports with bright young things, Harriet Verney and Scarlett Carlos Clarke, the exhibition whisks one on a whistle-stop tour around some of the London ladies keeping the city’s creative flames burning bright. Regularly doubling up on contributions to i-D, Rebecca and Makda each capture their subjects and their cribs with wildly different effects. Here we present a peek at the pics from the show and a short film of the femmes splish, splashing and taking a bath.
