With a high voltage performance from Beth Ditto and a full-on Italo rave happening all around us, it could be very easy for the runway show to take second place. That would be a shame as Christopher Kane is producing exceptional clothes for Versus. In a collection bursting with variety, he delivered trend after trend, deftly interpreting the 60s for today’s generation. He used cute mini-daisy prints and colourful oversized polka dots, see-through mesh miniskirts and plastic biker jackets with large silver-ring zip pulls, jazzy abstracted crayola-colored argyle sweaters, and threw in a see-through plastic hoodie and a raincoat for good measure. Chains were the big story here though. Cleverly playing with one of Versace signatures, Kane’s version came in bright coloured plastic, big and bold. Worn as chokers at the neck, as entire skirts, on the straps of the killer shoes and on hems of dinky 60s sassy shifts. Vivid ice lolly colours teamed with plenty of playfulness, this was a collection full of youthful spirit and summer fun.
