Moschino Cheap & Chic. London, 16/09/12

Saturday night out ended with a fun-tastic summer-sporty Moschino Cheap and Chic show in a towering courtyard off St John St. An amazing musical affair with Iggy Azalea sat front row and AlunaGeorge as the outstanding live band – starting with Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” and moving on up to i-D office fave “Just A Touch” – and 70s disco dress and 90s rave influences throughout. Striding along like bejewelled party giraffes with crinkle-cut hair, Moschino’s extraordinarily tall models (in an extraordinarily tall space) bedazzle us in colour-blocked CND gowns, Kusama-style Hawaiian-tropic pineapple prints and bags, and candy-floss frocks with mirrored snowflake appliques… our favourite look was a tracksuit in transparent mesh, perfect for after-dark escapades in the Olympic village. If one thing stole the show though – even more than the finale of super babes applauding AlunaGeorge from the balcony, even more than the pizza party afterwards – it was the shoes… skyscraper platform heels and wonderful running sneakers with London-2012-style fluorescent yellows. Cheap and Chic and very cheerful.
