Lacoste’s Creative Director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, celebrated the legendary sportswear brand’s 80th anniversary with a witty take on the house’s classics. Referencing the Lacoste archives of the 1980′s, Baptista applied asymmetrical colour blocks to polo dresses and oversized T-shirts. Luxe butter soft white leather sportswear – stretched tennis shirts for the girls, and cotemporary tracksuits for the boys – developed into a colourful explosion of retro prints and clean lines. While a series of new prints inspired by the brand’s most iconic elements – tennis balls, tennis rackets and tennis courts – adorned polo shirts, dresses and matching trousers and tops. A pale blue leather tracksuit, with crocodiles embossed on to its back was a fun, modern take on a sportswear classic. While the appearance of a plastic raincoat, with welded seams, had editor’s wishing they could peel it straight off the catwalk and onto the streets as an unexpected summer rainstorm crashed down outside.
