Sails were set for a sea breezy experience at Kinder Aggugini where no provisions were spared in the designer’s stream of nautical nods. Based on The Old Man and the Sea, the collection drew on a romantic seafaring narrative, conveyed in soft, girly garments and charming prints. High heeled clogs cemented Aggugini’s tongue-in-cheek approach to the theme, which saw a dungaree dress in fish scale prints, maritime navy jackets, and an evening dress with a tentacle motif worthy of Ursula’s human counterpart. The oceanic references were aplenty – an array of sea creatures, mermaids, buoys, and anchors all made appearances – and added a quaintness to the collection only interrupted by a hip hop soundtrack, which soon came equally full circle as it morphed into Bobby Darin’s Beyond the Sea.
