Just Cavalli. Milan, 21/09/12

“This could be underwater love”… With a huge screen of floating jellyfish illuminating the runway, it was clear from the get go that Roberto Cavalli had a deep sea odyssey in mind for his second line Just Cavalli. The show opened with a sharp white biker with “pearl” studded sleeves, followed by sassy short dresses covered in twinkly sequins that looked like irridescent mermaid scales. Handkerchief hems of chiffon slipdresses trailed like undulating underwater fronds and printed jellyfish tentacles unfurled in glorious techno colours on floaty chiffon. Merging his aquatic inspiration seamlessly with the key codes of the Cavalli house; the jungle prints, the digital florals, the python motifs, the patches of lace and the distressed denim were all there… Always a little bit bohemian and a little bit rock and roll, today’s show also had a sense of refinement, a cleaner and fresher aesthetic which translated very well for the modern ‘Just Cavalli’ girl.
