Contemporary, practical and fresh, the fragile tension between being sexy and strong or delicate and feminine was explored in the Altuzarra SS13 collection through solid silhouettes and a powerful colour palette. Inspired by the Sally Porter film Orlando, Joseph Altuzarra chose to layer masculine canvas jackets over ultra-feminine silks. Powerful indigo blues contrasted with tea-dyed ivories, whilst makeup was kept simple, decorating a cast of elfin like girls with a sun-kissed glow, complimenting the collection’s goddess-like aesthetic. A well-practised creator of opulent, feminine tailoring, each crisp cotton suit, tanned leather heel and staple scarf accessory, represented Altuzarra’s ready-to-wear ideology exquisitely. The Parisian nuance of the label injected some New York influence for SS13, granting audiences a glimpse of the Altuzarra evolution.
