Isabel Marant. Paris, 28/09/12

Isabel Marant’s girls looked like they were enjoying themselves. With no floor-length drama materials to trip over or platforms to negotiate, it was good vibrations all the way down. Inspired (aren’t we all) by Elvis Presley in Hawaii circa 1973, white studded, a bit flared trousers (think Hound Dog) and Hawaii garland prints were the staples of the collection. Flower printed crop tops tied up with short shorts said “Aloha!” and loose, 70s silhouettes with hippy printed embroidered waistcoats and shirts melted effortlessly into Marant’s already laid-back aesthetic. Halter-necks, bandeau tops and studded mini skirts with woven white belts and more yeah man, flower power prints continued the easy breezy vibe and by the end we were toe-tapping, knee-shaking and quiff-licking our way to the exit. A feel-good, peace-out collection, Marant was on form.
