Anja Konstantinova sits pretty in Vivienne Westwood with Terry Richardson and Charlotte Stockdale between the sheets of i-D’s Just Kids Issue. With a bright blonde halo of hair, white eyebrows and a bee-sting pout, this Russian-born, Melbourne-based 22-year-old is taking the fashion world in her tiny 5 foot 4 inch stride. She may not stand tall against your average runway model but she’s got the face of an angel and a first-rate personality. With ‘MEOW’ tattooed across the inside of her lower lip and ‘CAT’ on the nape of her neck, Anja is a self-confessed cat-obsessive with an uncannily feline composition to match. When she’s not hanging out on the pages of high-fashion mags, she slinks into slouchy tees, skin-tight jeans and creepers to chill out with friends and family. Here i-Des online catch up with the Marilyn NY-signed pocket rocket for some party pics and fashion kicks.
What’s your earliest memory? My earliest memory would be putting on sing and dance performances in the parks. I loved being a centre of attention and if people weren’t watching me I would yell at them. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a vet or a hairdresser. What was it like shooting with Terry Richardson for i-D? Shooting for terry Richardson for i-D was really fun. The shoot was very happy, youthful, playful and cheeky. Charlotte Stockdale brought the most amazing wardrobe from London, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Are you friends with any of the other girls from the shoot? I know the girls from my agency and Charlotte free and Stella. Are you in love? Yes. What’s your perfect date? Movie and a pizza. How do you feel when you look in the mirror? Happy. I love my job and life, I’ve got the most beautiful family and friends. Everyday they make everything super special so everyday I have a smile on my face when I look in the mirror. What’s the best thing about being young today? Freedom.
