Frida Giannini’s 70s inspired collection was overflowing with feel-good Italian glamour and provided the perfect kickstart to the Milan shows. The citrus bright palette – we adored the cheery fuscia pinks, acidic yellows and cobalt blues – teamed with heavy jewelled necklaces, earrings and opulent ruffles around the neckline, shoulders and hips, created a fun, flirty, Abigail’s Party air. Floor-grazing pink gowns with slits to the navel (designed to be worn with a cocktail in hand), loose-fitting trouser suits with giant collars and psychedelic prints that swirled their way dramatically across tunics, dresses and more added to the 70′s air. While Japanese floral prints introduced an eastern delicacy to dresses, blouses and skirts. The finale saw a number of supremely elegant black and white evening gowns sweep down the catwalk with such force, beauty and intensity it was as though they had been created for this moment right here, right now. The natural next step from the sultry sex appeal of Gucci’s fall/winter collection, this feel good yet ultimately glamourous outing was born for red carpet dressing. We look forward to seeing it there.
