For SS13, Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein Collection moved away from his trademark minimalist silhouette to celebrate good old fashioned glamour with a haute couture edge. Costa’s 21st century pin-ups smouldered in exposed brassieres, elegant pencil skirts, sheer fabrics and a whole load of sex appeal. The predominantly black and white collection opened with an elegant black satin bustier dress that soon gave way to a black peplum blouse and skirt, and cropped white trousers and side-panelled top. Sharp, minimalist yet classic too, standout pieces included a simple yet chic white cut-out dress with knotted black rubber overlay and a stunning white trouser suit, with matching white silk bustier top. Simple, chic yet devastatingly sexy, slip this on and you’re guaranteed to command the room. Fabrics – whilst always expertly cut at Calvin Klein – seemed weightier than usual adding to the collection’s courturian, almost regal air. Bright, fresh and positive, it was the perfect end to New York fashion week.
