Antonio Berardi. London, 17/09/12

Oversized peplums, sequins and shorts may not sound like the wisest of combos, but leave it to Antonio Berardi to make it look like it was always meant to be. Monday morning’s show at the car park in Brewer Street (who said fashion wasn’t glamorous?) was a geometrical feast laden with the elegant power tailoring in which Berardi excels. Giant peplums and batwing-y detailing on the skirts taken into consideration, it was a pretty bonkers silhouette but a really flattering one, nonetheless. Covered in aquamarine-coloured or iridescent sequins – as was the case with a handful of exits – it took on an Indian summer kind of likeness, which went hand-in-hand with the beachy, windswept feel of the buoyant floor-length dresses, which closed the show.
